Law Of Attraction & Massage Marketing
Getting The Same Results In Business No Matter What You Do?
By Galen

This is the first of a series of short articles on the law of attraction.

The law of attraction is a popular subject today, with Oprah being a major sales voice for The Secret Movie.

So you may find yourself asking, what does the law of attraction have to do with the success of my business?

Do you find yourself making the same amount of money no matter what you do with your business?  Are you having difficulty filing your schedule book?  Well, you may be caught in a kind of loop, and learning about the law of attraction could be the tool you need to move forward, joyfully.

I know that in my personal life, I have been able to make some significant changes in both my daily joy and wealth thanks in no small part to a better understanding of the law of attraction over the last year.

First let me say that I am not a fan of The Secret Movie.  It did not set well with me.  The law of attraction is a lot about what you put your focus on.  So if the movie-maker's focus is on the law of attraction being a secret, then what do you think the chances are that the movie-maker will successfully tell the secret in the movie?  Pretty slim.  In fact they left some very important stuff out, probably in part to make it more profitable.  In fact I feel like the bigger focus of the movie-makers was on making money, not on telling the secret.

But if you are interested in the concept of the law of attraction, and you have not yet heard of Esther and Jerry Hicks, then I am pleased to send you to the source, unedited.  Esther & Jerry were most definitely not the first to talk on this subject, but they are the source of the original information that The Secret Movie was based on.  In fact they were in the movie, but were later edited out because they were not pleased with the direction the movie was taking.  And while the law of attraction is not a new message, Esther & Jerry utilize modern language and references that really help get the idea across.  And a good bit of humor also. Plus it does not hurt that Esther channels some great teachers called Abraham.

They currently have four books available.  The books are somewhat repetitive, which in learning this material is a good thing.

The Law Of Attraction - The basics of the teachings of Abraham
Ask and It Is Given - Learning to manifest your desires
The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent - Living the art of allowing
The Astonishing Power of Emotions - Let your feelings be your guide

Let's start with two basic ideas.

What you focus on is what you get - and -  you are the creator of your future.

Sounds great.  But there are subtleties to understanding these twin concepts that require a good bit of personal introspection and awareness.  So no, this is not a get rich quick and easy method.  Although things come to you remarkably easy when you are more lined up with what it is you desire.

Basically, what you put your focus on attracts more of the same to you.

So, if you are focused on your business not doing well, you get more of that.

If you are focused on never having enough money, you get more of that - not enough money.

And here is the trick.  If you are focused on marketing your business because you don't have enough business, your focus is really on your lack of business, and your results will most likely reflect that same lack.  Bummer, yes?  That almost sounds miserably unfair.  Well tough, it is time to make it work for you, with a clear understanding of how you create your future.

So how do you focus on marketing your business without it coming from a feeling of lack?

I will go into this idea in more detail in the next newsletter, but for now consider this, your homework for this month.....what is it about your business that brings you joy?  Write down a list.  Pay attention to how these things make you feel.  See if you can think of things that really make you feel wonderful.  (Gently let go of negative thoughts.  Don't worry about what is "real" at this point.)  What were the great reasons you got started in massage?  How great is it to make people feel good?  Keep focused on those feeling about your business for an entire month.  Make them your dominant focus.

Now, what if you market your business from that joyful feeling, to enhance that feeling, to bring you more of those feelings about your joyful business?

Does this just sound like silly self-help junk, only for the self-deluded?  The answer to that question is pretty simple.  It can be, if you want.  If you focus on it being that, life will give you all the situations and reasons you need to prove that.  You will get what you focus on, no matter what it is you really focus on and believe.  It is actually pretty easy to see for yourself if this is true or not.  Look at your past.  Think about what you have been focused on, and what has happened over and over again in your life.  It is rather remarkable.  And it is even easier to see what other people attract to themselves by what they are focused on.

In the next newsletter I go into some of what The Secret Movie left out.  How does the law of attraction work, and why?

Now, think about that as you read this great massage marketing article, kindly contributed by Michelle Vandepas below.

Do You Recognize the Only Two Things Clients Buy? - By Michelle Vandepas

There are two silent questions a prospective client will ask themselves before buying your product or service.

  • Will this (insert your service here) make my life better?
  • Will buying your service solve my problem?

You may never hear the question, and the client may not even know they are asking themselves the question, but somewhere, consciously or not, they want to know if you will help them feel better. And I mean feel better emotionally.

Sales is always based on feelings.

It doesn't matter how much you think someone needs a session with you, if the client doesn't feel a positive emotion before working with you, you'll never make the sale.  You can have certificates, degrees, advanced trainings, but the client wants to feel safe, hopeful, and welcomed by you.

If you can show or explain, in just one or two sentences, how your service can answer both of these questions above and help them emotionally feel comfortable, you’ve tackled the hardest part of selling. After all, aren’t you silently asking the same two questions when you buy something?

Buying is an emotional process, but we’ve also got to satisfy the mind, the logical part of ourselves before we make a buying decision.

It's Features and Benefits Baby!

The quickest way to calm the mind and excite the emotion is through a nifty technique of explaining both the features and the benefits of your service.

If you are a massage therapist, you might say:
“I've been trained at the best massage institute and have five years of experience behind me, (the feature that calms the mind), and you'll feel so energized after a session you won't need a jolt of caffeine at 3:00 in the afternoon! (the benefit that excites the client).

Once your client knows that you will consistently answer these questions for them, and make them feel better, you are creating loyalty. I’d rather go back to someone who I can count on to make me feel better emotionally, than start over again in my search - wouldn’t you?

Your Homework:
Here’s a challenge for you today. Write down what your core service is, then turn it into a feature and benefit driven sentence that you can use.
