Another reason that you want massage referrals is because if you have to spend less time and money on marketing, you can put more back into improved services for your clients. You can offer them more specials if you want. You can add some equipment that will improve your clients comfort, like a breast recess table. Or you can improve your newsletter quality and content.

And to make it all work smooth please make it very easy for their friends and family to try you the first time. Maybe give them a discount for their first treatment. And also, make it easy for your clients to offer these discounts to their friends, and look good doing it. Every month you could mail your existing clients 5 business cards that they can give to their friends. On the back of these business cards it could say:

Or you can send them a special gift certificate they can give out.

And you know what? They will. They will love doing it. And your massage referrals rate will rapidly increase.

You can use any number of referral systems, like the one described above. Make sure you include the following:

  1. You specifically ask for referrals.
  2. You describe why you want the referrals.
  3. There is a reward for doing it. And the reward is significant enough that it creates action in your clients. Remember your lifetime client value when considering how much it is worth to you to get a new client.
  4. You are very careful about tracking your referrals, and promptly reward your clients.
  5. You use multiple referrals systems.

That's right - use multiple systems. One system is just verbally reminding your clients after each visit to refer you to their friends and family. Also, ask in each newsletter. Ask on your web page. Setup referral systems with other businesses.

Massage referrals systems work! This is a marketing system. Referral systems cost almost nothing, which means your return on investment is the best of any marketing. That means your referred clients are your most profitable clients.

Plus, referral-generated clients:

  • Spend more.
  • Come more often.
  • Refer more people.

And remember, your clients love you. You make a huge difference in their lives, and they naturally want to refer people to you. It makes them feel good. They like helping other people. It makes them look good when their friend has a wonderful experience with you. And every time they refer someone to you, they are making a commitment to you. This reinforces their own desire to use your services. And they need the reminder.

Massage referrals are self-perpetuating. So create several formalized referral systems, and ask every single client at every interaction to provide you with referrals. And if you have staff, have them do the same.

Remember when I said that great marketing is any way that you solve people's problems, and that solving people's problems is your real business? Referral system marketing does this in a big way.
