Massage Post Card Marketing
Tips & Resources

This page is about using a massage post card for a bunch of different massage marketing purposes. I will also share a good source for getting pre-printed post cards specific for massage.

A massage post card can be a great way to contact your current clients, and even to get new ones. Post cards can be a very economical form of direct mail.

Some of the benefits of a post card are:

  • They are a piece of mail that does not need to be opened. So you can be pretty sure your message will get read, not immediately thrown away.

  • They are inexpensive to mail. Compared to a letter they cost almost 38% less in postage. Plus you don't have to pay for an envelope. You can even save more if you are doing a big mailing by getting the bulk mailing rate offered by a mailing house.

  • They force you to be brief with your message. And if you can fit your message on a post card, you can save lots of labor folding and stuffing envelopes.

  • Post cards are fun. People like to receive them.

So what can you do with a massage post card? Use them to keep in contact regularly with your existing clients.

Here are some of the many opportunities and reasons to use a massage post card:

  • Birthday cards – offer them a free upgrade on a massage for their birthday, or any other birthday message you would like.

  • Anniversary cards – offer them a free upgrade on a couples massage, or a discount on a massage class, or just a congratulations.

  • Reactivation – for clients who have not been in to see you in awhile. Send out a card that lets them know you miss them, that they have not gotten a massage in awhile, with a free upgrade or discount offer.

  • Referral rewards – to thank them for a referral and let them know their reward.

  • Mini newsletter – a quick solution for the time pressed therapist – have a quick health tip, a tidbit of news or new service description, and a quick gift certificate offer or upgrade offer.

  • Welcome card – thanking them for their first massage, and welcoming them into your practice. Suggest they check out your website.

  • Any type of thank you – for any reason. Contact is good.

  • Reminder card – to schedule an upcoming appointment, get a massage, etc.

  • Holiday cards – wish them happy holiday and thank them for being a great client.

  • Moving cards – print them a map with the new location.

  • Missed appointment – let them know your cancellation policy, and request they reschedule.

A massage post card can also be a good marketing tool for getting new clients, through a direct mail offering.

If you are a member of your local chamber of commerce, you probably have access to their mailing list. You could create a direct mail post card marketing piece to educate and make an offer to this group.

There are lots of other ways to compile mailing lists of local businesses and do direct mail marketing pieces that don't cost much.

If you utilize a mailing service they can even send your post card to specific areas of town based on carrier routes, and zip codes. So you could target a particular business area, or housing area that you feel is a prime market, all at very little expense.

When you are sending out a post card make sure that you keep your professional image consistent with all the other marketing and in-house publications you already do.

And in most cases try to use a powerful headline on the top of your post card. Don't put your name and logo first.

Always try to ask for some type of response. Ask them to schedule, or take advantage of a gift certificate special, or to sign up for your newsletter on your web site.

In many cases you can even hand write a message. Personal contact is always nice.

You can print post cards yourself if you have a decent printer. Most of the time you are not sending out many of them, so it won't cost you much in ink and paper. Just make sure you have a really good paper cutter and cut them perfectly straight.

If you do design and print your own, make sure you don't make them too big. Here is what the post office says about the size of a post card:

And if you are mailing out more than 200, consider having them printed professionally, and mailed by a mailing house. You will probably save some money and lots of time.

You can also purchase pre-printed massage specific post cards, although they may not have the type of headlines and offers that evoke a great response. Here is a good source for massage post cards:

So don't forget to use a massage post card for keeping in touch with your clients and for attracting new clients.
